This web site provides a comprehensive HTML-based file server protected by a rather elaborate security system. The application supports any type of file to be uploaded provided the access privileges granted to the user are sufficient.
The file server is intended for use by benwillies and his friends, but some files may be available to the general public as a community service and as a demonstration of LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP) development on Mac OS X. Your use of this site is completely at the discretion of the Webmaster.
Although you may browse the Files section without a login, you must register an Account if you want to upload your own files. Account Registration requires
that you enter your email address so we can send you a confirmation letter, which must be acknowledged before you can login. Having your own Account also means that you can restrict access to your files to only yourself or to a small group of other users.
None of the information you enter for your Account will be revealed to anyone but yourself and the Administrators of this web site. However, no one can ever see your unencrypted password, even if they were to steal the server. You may change anything about your account at any time, including your Username, although changing your email address will require another confirmation letter to be sent.
If you already have an Account and you setup a new Account, then you will most likely lose all access to the files you uploaded under your old Account, in addition to the files that other users allowed you to access, so please contact an Administrator or Technical Support to correct any problems instead of just creating another Account.
And please be aware that all of the access privileges are based on the folder where the file is located and not the actual file itself, so when you move a file from one folder to another, you could be changing its access privileges as well. It is wise to always check the access privileges of a folder before uploading a file into it, keeping in mind that the access privileges for a folder are completely independent of any parent folders.
If you would like to experience what it is like to be an Administrator and to see some of the additional features of this web application, a special demonstration version is available.
